Physician-led · 20–30 mmHg Compression Socks

Comparing compression socks? One number tells you everything.

Open ten tabs and every sock promises "premium compression." One line settles it: the pressure, in mmHg. Ovena's is 20–30 mmHg, medical-grade and graduated — and it's printed on the box.

"If you're comparing compression socks, one number tells you more than any product photo: 20 to 30 mmHg, graduated from the ankle up. Then do the stretch test — see how far it opens and how it recovers. The stretch judges the knit; the number on the box is how you judge the compression."

The 30-second checklist

How to compare any two pairs.

Three checks, straight from our Medical Director — run them on ours and anyone else's.

1 · Check the number

Look for a stated mmHg level. 20–30 mmHg is the firm daily-wear spec Ovena builds to.

2 · Check it's graduated

Pressure should have a direction — firmest at the ankle, easing up the calf. Uniform squeeze is just a tight sock.

3 · Do the stretch test

See how far it opens and how it snaps back. That judges the knit — donning ease and shape retention. The compression level itself should be printed on the box.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

How do I actually compare two compression socks?
Check three things: a stated pressure level in mmHg (not just the word "compression"), the word "graduated" (firmest at the ankle, easing up), and the stretch test — how far the knit opens and whether it recovers, which judges donning ease and shape retention. Ovena states 20–30 mmHg graduated on the box.
What number should I look for?
20–30 mmHg is the firm daily-wear level Ovena builds to — the level our Medical Director recommends for long shifts, travel, and standing work. A lighter 15–20 mmHg suits some first-time wearers; if you have a circulatory condition, diabetes, or any doubt about the right level for you, ask your clinician first.
Will they fit wider calves?
Sizing runs by measurement, not shoe size: XL fits calves up to 20 in around, and the knit is built to open wide and recover. Measure your ankle at the narrowest point and your calf at the widest, then check the size chart in the gallery above — if ankle and calf point to different sizes, go by your calf. Still unsure? Email info@ovenahealth.com.
What do they actually do?
20–30 mmHg graduated compression helps improve circulation, reduce swelling, and relieve tired, achy legs during long days of standing, sitting, or travel — worn as directed. Compression isn't appropriate for everyone: significant peripheral arterial disease or severe neuropathy calls for clinician guidance first, and if you notice numbness, tingling, skin colour change, or pain while wearing them, take them off and check with a clinician.
Are they hard to get on?
Firmer than a regular sock by design — the wide-opening knit helps, and if bending or reaching is difficult, our long-handle sock aid — designed to make compression-sock donning easier — helps.
What comes in the order?
Your knee-high pair (unisex S–XL, black, reinforced heel and toe), plus a free pH-balanced compression cleanser with every pair — a $3.99 value — to keep the elastic fibers in shape.
What if the size is wrong?
Unworn, unused pairs in original packaging can be returned within 30 days — see our refund policy. Email info@ovenahealth.com to start a return, then reorder your size.
Are they FSA/HSA eligible?
Many FSA/HSA plans cover 20–30 mmHg compression socks — verify with your plan.
